Kill Bahamut! 01

"Wha..?"

submission: Kill Bahamut! 01
date: November 29, 2009

Lol, what the fuck? :p Back when you submitted this, I think this was one of your most random submissions yet.

With Bahamut standing on top of a hill like that, I thought some overdramatic epic battle would take place. But apparently a simple B-attack was already enough to slay Bahamut. I was sure that he wouldn't go down that easily and would at least unleash a Mega Flare or two, but alas it was over quickly. I guess he was still no match for the king of the portal.

Overall 5 out of 10, 2 out of 5. It could've used some more effort, but for an ordinary spam submission it wasn't bad.

Yep, it's definitely a spam submission and I can clearly admit that. :) The only problem is, I only ever made four of these counting the alternative one to this.

"Good one"

date: November 27, 2009

Lol. You really did the spin counter thing manually? :p That must have been an awful lot of work, not to mention very unnecessary. There are probably several simple actionscripts that could have saved you all that trouble.

Anyway, I was always under the impression that this was an endless loop and that the spin counter would just keep on counting until eternity. Now I finally know that it stops after 1,000 spins. It might have been fun if it actually did go on forever, but that might have driven most people crazy.

Nice song you used for this flash by the way. Not that I'm such a big fan of it, but I know my dad always listens to 80's songs like that and I never thought people of my age would also know about it. For the rest it would have been nice perhaps if Mario was also spinning or something like that. Now he was just standing there doing nothing. Maybe Sonic's spinning paralyzed him or maybe it was a mental battle I don't know.

Overall 8 out of 10, 4 out of 5. Nice clockday submission.

Author's Response:

Sadly, I couldn't find the right actionscript to do it then. X_X Also, best not make this go on forever as I already had complaints about the first one stopping halfway, lol.

Haha, You Spin Me Right Round is a timeless classic.

Mario was waiting for Sonic to do something, I guess.

Zidane N' Zidane 01

"Lol"

date: November 25, 2009

Nice parody on the events that happened at the world cup of 2006. I still remember Zidane's legendary red card well and also all the parodies that started to run across the internet. Many people were talking that it was a disgrace, but to be honest I don't think he could have picked a better way to end his football career :p

Anyway, I thought it was funny that the commentary guy was talking to Zidane Tribal from his commentary box. Would've been even funnier if you could somehow make him shout or make it sound like he was talking across the stadium speakers. But that might have been a bit difficult, especially when using Speakonia.

I also thought the headbutt scene was pretty funny :p It was not animated that well and pretty short, but it looked very funny nonetheless.

Overall 8 out of 10, 4 out of 5. I liked this flash. Back when it came out I think this was one of your best. Or at least one of my favorite submissions from you.

~Auz

PS: You made a slight mistake at the names of the French team. It's Thuram, not Thurum ;)

November 26, 2009

Author's Response:

Thanks to Zidane's headbutt, there was something to give a damn about in World Cup 2006. I hope something just as epic happens in 2010. :)

"Alright"

date: November 25, 2009

I liked that you actually made a parody movie rather than just swapping a few pictures with the original series.

Some things looked kinda ugly and rushed though :p I thought even some of your earlier flashes had better drawings and graphics than this one. Especially the first scene with Anderson was not so pretty. You could have tried to get rid of the white border and use a higher quality picture. At the scene when Bahamut was at the beach it got better though. I saw that there was still a white border around BlueHippo, but it was not so eye-catching anymore there.

For the rest I think there was something wrong with the sound loop at the end. At the end of the loop I kept hearing some sort of scratching noise. You might wanna upload a better file or some other music (if you ever want to improve this flash).

Overall 6 out of 10, 3 out of 5. Not among the best things I have seen from you, but it was alright.

The sound looping issue was fixed long ago but like the syncing problems, it's something I'd like to keep unless I give it API.

Sonic Fanboy Quiz

"Good quiz"

submission: Sonic Fanboy Quiz
date: November 25, 2009

Although the lay-out was rather simple, it did seem to have more effort put into it than the average sonic/zelda/mario quiz. A couple of features that I liked were the sound effects when you answered question, the music selection and the checkpoints. I'd still prefer a point system over a checkpoint system though. I always hate to have to answer the same questions over and over again just because I happened to guess wrong a few times on one question.

As for the difficulty level of this quiz, I think it was pretty high. You asked some very detailed questions and even asked for some debug codes which I doubt many people could remember. I think it's a good thing that the difficulty level is so high since it's probably mostly sonic fans who will play this quiz. Now at least they have something challenging. As for myself: I hardly know shit about sonic so a lot of questions were simply guessing for me. I could answer a few by applying basic knowledge and logic but most of the times I had to be lucky to get it right in one try.

Overall 8 out of 10, 4 out of 5. Good quiz overall.

~Auz

PS: Lol at the back to the start thing at the end of the quiz :p

"it did seem to have more effort put into it than the average sonic/zelda/mario quiz."

Which is funny because I barely played any Sonic games back then.

"You asked some very detailed questions and even asked for some debug codes which I doubt many people could remember."

Actually, Sonic's debug codes are well known amongst Sonic fans.

"It was alright"

date: November 24, 2009

It wasn't that much special, but it was okay for one of your first submissions to the portal (this was like your 6th or so if I counted correctly). The animation was alright, even though there wasn't much in it. I liked the FF9 theme playing at the background and I also liked the characters that popped up behind the window at the back. Not that it was so funny, but it distracted just enough so that this movie would not be too boring.

The only big complaint I have about this flash is that it seemed like the subtitles were behind a bit before Bahamut started mentioning the websites. It's kind of an annoyance to read subtitles that don't match with the sound. So you might wanna fix it someday if you feel like it. Although I can imagine on the other hand that you can't be arsed to do so, since I don't think many people check out this flash anymore. It could also be caused by my computer though. If that's the case forgot what I said.

Overall 6 out of 10, 3 out of 5. Not much special like I said, but it was alright.

Pokemon Bahamut Version

"Brings back memories"

date: November 23, 2009

This sure brings back a lot good memories about the original pokemon versions.

I can still remember your first flash animations with your own drawings and you have improved a lot since then. A lot of things actually looked fairly good, like the PS3, the DS, the pokeballs, the cap, Professor Oak and several other things. The animation could have been slightly better sometimes though, like the walking animation for Graham, but I think that also added a bit to the humor. Maybe it would have been even funnier if some things were intentionally drawn really poorly.

For the rest I kinda have to agree with Chriis07's when he said that it could use some more voices. I don't know if Graham is also you, but perhaps it would be good if you had practiced on some more voices. Even if it sounds really bad, it might also add to the humor you know.

Overall 10 out of 10, 5 out of 5. Although I don't think I have seen all your flashes yet, this is the best Bahamut flash that I can remember.

~Auz

November 24, 2009

Author's Response:

Pokelord does Graham's voice as credited on the flash. As for having more voice actors, it would have been nice if I had the voice actor who does Oak in the English dub. :P

"Always wondered what was up with this submission"

date: November 22, 2009

You know, I have been wondering for such a long time now: Why does this submission not show any info on your userpage? Does it have something to do with the title being too long or something? I just can't figure it out.

Anyway, very nice ending on this epic battle :p I liked how you first showed the battle at the previous years and then the ending which lasted not more than 5 seconds and ended in a draw. On one hand that was pretty lame, but on the other hand it was just the perfect ending. I also loved the music you picked for this flash. Suited it very well in my opinion.

Too bad this was the end of the series though. I would have loved to see another episode on clockday and there are still plenty of other fun things you could have done with this series I think.

Overall 10 out of 10.

I don't know what else I could have done with this series. Maybe show Mario and Sonic fighting in hell? :P

Fig. 8

"Not bad, but not too good either"

submission: Fig. 8
date: November 21, 2009

I liked the idea and the setting of the game. I also liked the music you added, it was very relaxing. There were a few things however that sorta ruined this game for me.

One thing that I found rather annoying was the fact that you had to circle around a checkpoint, causing your multiplier to drop back to zero. It sorta felt like the game punished you for using checkpoints, especially if you had just build up a high multiplier. Another annoying thing about the checkpoints was that it seemed to put you back in the position at which you had completed the circle. I remember near the end I died once and the checkpoint put me back in such an awkward way that I died half a dozen times more. On top of that, I believe the game had sort of a bug at that checkpoint. The screen just sped up for a second so that I had even less time to get my bicycle straight.

Another complaint I have is that the game is incredibly long and repetitive. I never had any idea if I was near the end or not and only after about half an hour I finally got to the finish. Half an hour of gameplay is normally alright, but there was nothing more to this game than simply dodging lines and trying to build up your multiplier. The ending was also a bit of a disappointment since it just starts over again.

Overall 7 out of 10, 3 out of 5. A good idea, but worked out poorly. I hope you'll try to come up with an improvement someday.

Fly Squirrel Fly

"Not bad, but could be better"

submission: Fly Squirrel Fly
date: November 19, 2009

It's fairly well made and I can see that quite a lot of effort has been put into this. The graphics looked very nice and I loved the music. I preferred this relaxing theme well over the action theme Toss The Turtle uses actually. Also I liked the prehistoric setting and you added plenty of items and creatures you could hit while up in the air. There is still some room for improvement though.

Somewhere this point came where I had a feeling that you could hardly get any further. That point came about when I bought everything of the first upgrade set. Prices suddenly went up by about 5-10 times the price of the former set, but I wasn't earning that much more cash with the upgrades. Sure I was able to get a lot further now, but this did not result in that much extra cash if I didn't hit a whole lot of objects along the way. And so I had to perform dozens of flights where I landed at about 2000m, only earning between $100-200 per flight while the upgrades started to cost around $2000 and way up. You can imagine I start to lose interest after a while if I don't see much progress.

So my suggestion is you either make the upgrades cheaper, make distance a more important factor in earning cash, make upgrades more effective or simply add a few more upgrade sets between the current ones.

Another complaint I have is that while there are many objects up in the air, it was kinda hard to steer your squirrel towards them. So you mostly had to rely on the luck that something gets in your flight path. And once you came down, the chances were very low that a stick of dynamite or something else would break your fall. I think this was mostly due to the fact that the squirrel quickly seemed to drop almost vertically once he went downwards. But once he hit the ground he suddenly went more horizontal again which seemed a bit unnatural. Since there wasn't much that could help you on the ground either, you pretty much knew that once you went downwards the flight was over.

Personally I would solve this by making the squirrels drop a bit more horizontal if he still has a lot of speed. This increases the chance of hitting something by quite a bit. Also you could make the ground items appear more frequently.

Overall 7 out of 10, 3 out of 5. I think this was a fairly enjoyable, addictive game, but it could still use a few improvements. If you work on it a bit more, I think this could easily win a daily first.
