Medal Guide by 7794

--------------------------------------

Tips
-What is the difference between the diffeculties?
Enemies will have more HP and will do more damage. The attack patterns of the enemies will stay the same for every diffeculty however.
-What to buy in the shop at the beginning?
Waters of Life, Ethers, Potions
-What not to waste money on yet?
Bob-ombs, Magic and Attack Potions, Antidotes. It´s better to buy Bob-ombs and Antidotes in the shop halfway in the game.

- The mage recovers MP by defending against magic attacks. Because of this, she has infinite MP when Goku begins spamming Sprit bomb because it recovers a whopping 500-700 each time.
- The fighters MP recovery sword is useful when you don't want to waste ethers during a fight against easy enemies (slimes, crabs, ghosts) and basically gives you the comfort of spamming power metal.
-Seal and poison are stackable. So you better heal it as soon as possible.

Note: The damage is the MAXIMUM damage the enemy will do to your characters. You should make sure your HP stays above that amount, otherwise you´ll be in danger of getting killed.

Norm: ±190,000 HP, ±4,000 Damage (both)
Hard: ±228,000 HP, ±4,800 Damage (both)
Epic: ±266,000 HP, ±5,600 Damage (both)

Note: A lot of his attacks hurt both of your characters. He also has three attack patterns which will change after his HP dropped to a certain level. In the first stage he will only use stab attacks. In stage 2 all his attacks and in stage 3 only his bombshell attack (his most powerful attack).

After this battle you´ll get a break and are allowed to stock up on some more items. Now it would be a good idea to buy a few bob-ombs and some antidotes. Some of the upcoming bosses are weak against bob-ombs and purify alone might not be enough on the last few enemies and bosses.

Stage 4
Crabs x2
Crabs x3
Weakness: Thunder, Earth. Slight weakness to Airstrikes and Bombs

Easy: ±23,000 HP, ±2,000 Damage (on one character)

Norm: ±100,000 HP, ±5,000 Damage (one)
Hard: ±120,000 HP, ±6,000 Damage (one)
Epic: ±140,000 HP, ±7,000 Damage (one)

Note: Also has a strong attack on both characters. This boss has 90% defense and 120% magic defense. In other words, physical attacks will hurt him more.

Boss: Regirock
Weakness: Ice, Bob-omb, Airstrike
Immune against Earth (will not heal from earth attacks, even though the game suggests otherwise)
Strong vs screamers damage

Easy: ±88,000 HP, ±3,000 Damage (on both characters)
Norm: ±110,000 HP, ±3,750 Damage (both)
Hard: ±132,000 HP, ±4,500 Damage (both)
Epic: ±154,000 HP, ±5,250 Damage (both)

Note: Earth attacks will heal him. This boss has 120% defense and 90% magic defense, meaning magical attacks will hurt him more.

Boss: Regice and Regirock
Weakness: See above

Easy: 72,000 (Regice), 80,000 (Regirock)
Norm: 90,000 HP (Regice), 100,000 HP (Regirock)

Stage 5
Spiked Floating Eyeball x2
Weakness: Slight weakness to Thunder, Ice, Airstrike and Bombs

Easy: ±21,600 HP, ±2,000 Damage (on one character)
Norm: ±27,000 HP, ±2,500 Damage (one)
Hard: ±32,400 HP, ±3,000 Damage (one)
Epic: ±38,800 HP, ±3,500 Damage (one)

Easy: ±20,000 HP, ±2,000 Damage (on one character)
Norm: ±25,000 HP, ±2,500 Damage (one)
Hard: ±30,000 HP, ±3,000 Damage (one)
Epic: ±35,000 HP, ±3,500 Damage (one)

Note: These enemies can seal your abilities for three turns (stackable). This can be cured by using the purify spell (which will be your only skill available after being sealed).

Boss: Mecha
Weakness: Thunder, Bob-omb, Airstrikes
Strong vs screamers damage

Easy: ±208,000 HP, ±8,000 Damage (on both characters)
Norm: ±260,000 HP, ±9,999 Damage (both)
Hard: ±312,000 HP, ±9,999 Damage (both)
Epic: ±364,000 HP, ±9,999 Damage (both)

Note: Like the sentinel, this boss also has three attack patterns which change depending on his HP. Stage 1 is mostly stab attacks. Stage 2 all of his attacks and stage 3 only his stronger attacks.

Similar to Goku, his beamcannon can instantly kill both your characters. Make sure your HP is always high in this battle and whenever he charges it, use defensive moves to prevent dying (it´ll still do about 5,000-6,000 damage).

Stage 6
Ghosts x2
Weakness: Holy
Strong vs screamers damage

Easy: ±36,000 HP, ±1,700 Damage (one)
Norm: ±45,000 HP, ±2,125 Damage (one)
Hard: ±54,000 HP, ±2,550 Damage (one)
Epic: ±63,000 HP, ±2,975 Damage (one)

Ghosts x3
Weakness: Holy
Strong vs screamers damage

Easy: ±32,000 HP, ±1,700 Damage (one)
Norm: ±40,000 HP, ±2,125 Damage (one)
Hard: ±48,000 HP, ±2,550 Damage (one)
Epic: ±54,000 HP, ±2,975 Damage (one)

Note: These enemies can poison you and take away your active stat boosts (stackable). The poison is stronger than the poison from the trees.

Boss: Goku
Weakness: Holy
Strong vs screamers damage

Easy: ±360,000 HP, ±8,000 Damage (on both characters)
Norm: ±450,000 HP, ±9,999 Damage (both)
Hard: ±540,000 HP, ±9,999 Damage (both)
Epic: ±630,000 HP, ±9,999 Damage (both)

Note: He can poison you, take away your active stat boosts (debuffed) and seal your abilities for two turns (stackable). This boss also has three attack patterns. Stage 1 is punches and slashes. Stage 2 all of his attacks and in stage 3 only his stronger attacks and twice as much chance for casting a Spiritbomb.

You should always have barrier on in this battle. Protect is also very handy, but less necessary.

-How to prevent dying from the Spiritbomb?
First you gotta make sure your characters are always in a healthy condition. If your characters are low on HP and Goku casts the Spiritbomb, you will not have much of a chance to survive. In the turn after Goku has casted the Spiritbomb, put your characters on defensive mode and the damage from it will be halved. Barrier will lower the damage even more.

Strategy by CHP
First check if you have almost maximum HP, if not use Heal More. If you do, then move on. Cast Barrier and Protect. DO NOT cast Temper or use a Magic or Attack potion. After you do that, you might need to heal again. Then change your sword to Heaven's gate if your playing Hard, Normal, or Easy mode. If you are playing Epic mode and you are fairly good t the game you can still use Heaven's Gate, but if you need a handicap then use Stone edge. Now that we have prepared, lets focus on attacking. Barrage Goku with Seiken and Registeel (to lower the defense for Seiken). After you have used Registeel twice then focus on healing with the mage, and if you are both healed over half then use Canti. Continue with Seiken. If your health drops under half then use heal if it's just one player, or Heal More if they both need assistance. If they both have under 1000, then use Power Metal and Heal More in the same turn. If Goku starts his spirit bomb thing, then check your HP. If you need to, use heal more. Note if you do this the mage will die. If they are good on HP, then defend for your life! If the fighter needs replenished MP, obviously use an ether. This is the last boss, so don't hold up on the items. Repeat this strategy until it seems Goku can be killed with Catastrophe (note by OneRedMage: This can be very risky, so you might not wanna do this). Use an ether on the mage, then use Catastrophe. If that didn't work then revive the mage and do it again. By now you should have won.
YAY!

(Additional) Strategy by OneRedMage
CHP did a good job on saying how to kill goku, as I used the same strategy. I added, though, that if ONLY the mage´s hp is below 9000, I have her use judgement rather than canti to heal and damage goku. Use antidotes on the mage if Goku seals, and ALWAYS keep your hp above 9000. The spirit bomb on epic difficulty can do ~8000 damage while you're defending so he could kill anyone with the followup attack. ALWAYS have barrier on as well. If either player doesn't have over 8000 HP when he launches the bomb, I sacrifice the mage with a barrier to save the fighter (I got the "owned medal doing this). I wouldn't risk using catastrophe during this fight on epic since ending a turn with ~4000 HP is a VERY risky move. Again, buy antidotes. They're cheap, so its not a big loss and helpful vs. seal or stacked poison (Goku does seem to seal more often in epic, and he does use poison).

Thanks for all that info, Auz! I'll try the game again right now.

he used spiritbomb on me on easy mode so you are wrong about that

Yes. RYNOL already notified me about it and told me the amount of damage it would do. I just forgot to delete that last line, but thanks for pointing it out :)

I died when I got to Mecha. I could swear Mecha just had 5,000+ when it killed me. At least I got the Regice medal for slaying the pokemanz.

Also, you can put that the spiked floating eyeballs can seal your skills or something like that.

Alright. The info was mostly based on my second run and what I remembered from the first run, so it´s possible that he did 5,000. I´ll just believe you and add the 5,000. And I can remember the spiked floating eyeballs doing that, so I´ll put that up as well.

Thanks for the info.

Well, I also found out that holy does quite good damage to regirock

I tried Holy spells myself and I did not notice any spectacular boosts in damage. The thing is that he is weak to magic attacks AND holy spells are all very powerful. So it´s logical that it does a lot of damage, but he is probably not weak to it.

Otherwise I also think the author would´ve notified me in his post in the Medal Tips topic ;)

the crabs in stage 4
is also weak in earth attacks,

Alright if you say so ;)

I´ll put it up for now and test it later.

Put this under Goku, since he can be a major pain in the ass if you don't do it right.

Strategy: First check if you have almost maximum HP, if not use Heal More. If you do, then move on. Cast Barrier and Protect. DO NOT cast Temper or use a Magic or Attack potion. After you do that, you might need to heal again. Then change your sword to Heaven's gate if your playing Hard, Normal, or Easy mode. Barrage Goku with Seiken and Registeel (to lower the defense for Seiken). After you have used Registeel twice then focus on healing with P2, and if you are both healed over half then use Canti. Note if you do this P2 will die. If they are goth good on HP, then defend for your life! If P1 needs replenished MP, obviously use an ether. This is the last boss, so don't hold up on the items. Repeat this strategy until it seems Goku can be killed with Catastrophe. Use an ether on P2, then use Catastrophe. If that didn't work then revive P2 and do it again. By now you should have won.
YAY!

That seems like a good strategy to me, and it´s mostly what I did when I defeated him. So I´ll put it up there. Thanks for the info ;)

Auz, what I meant to say about Mecha was that after l attacked him I thought he had something like 5,000+ of his life yet, not that he hit me with a 5,000+ attack. Besides, I was playing it in Normal Mode. :(

Oh I see now. Sorry :p

I have a question about Goku??

Does he not poison or seal on epic mode or something?? I just got done doing the hard mode medal and I wanted to see alot of information on epic before I wasted 3 hours of my life just to get pwned near the end.

but I couldn't have lived if I didn't have a butt load of antidotes because he kept sealing me. and if I were to use purify by the next turn I was dead because I couldn't heal...what is your strategy for that?? because he just does too much damage for me to waste the mages turn on a purify when i need a heal more right away.

As far as I know, he still uses poison and sealing spells.

I suppose using potions and purify in one turn would be the best. Use both on the mage to keep her alive and then revive the other character if necessary.

Also remember that Judgment, Drain and Powermetal heal your characters. I personally use those two a lot on Goku, so that my characters are automaticly kept high up in HP.

For epic mode (I have the medal, so yeahs), I personally purchased about 10 antidotes (so P1 can cure seal from P2 for immediate healmore) and stock up on ethers + life waters. I also bought some bob-ombs for the fight against regice + regirock to end it fast (starting with regirock)

CHP did a good job on saying how to kill goku, as I used the same strategy. I added, though, that if ONLY P2's hp is below 9000, I have her use judgement rather than canti to heal and damage goku. Use antidotes on P2 if Goku seals, and ALWAYS keep your hp above 9000. The spirit bomb on epic difficulty can do ~8000 damage while you're defending so he could kill anyone with the followup attack. Some extra tips:
- P2 recovers MP by defending against magic attacks. Because of this, she has infinite MP when Goku begins spamming Sprit bomb because it recovers a whopping 500-700 each time.
- P1's MP recovery sword is useful when you don't want to waste ethers during a fight against easy enemies (slimes, crabs, ghosts) and basically gives you the comfort of spamming power metal.
- Did I mention Barrier was a must? Magic attack is generally what OHKO's you so yeah.

great compilation of data on the enemies. It'll certainly help others in need of these medals :)

I added most of that information. Thanks :)

More ProTips to clear up some confusion:

All enemies have exactly the same attack patterns on all difficulties.

Seal and Poison STACK.
Seal by Eyeguys lasts 3 turns, by Goku 2 turns.
Poison by ghosts is twice as strong as trees.

Spiked EyeGuys also have a slight weakness to bombs, airstrike, thunder and glacier. Crabs also have a slight weakness to bombs/airstrike.

I can also give ye a list of what enemies are resistant to, but that's probably not too important. The only one worth noting is robots, regi's and undead are resistant to screamer's damage. BECAUSE THEY DO NOT FEEL FEAR D:

Thanks again for the extra info about the game :)

List of strenghts is not really necessary I think. Unless there are more attacks that heal certain enemies that I have not mentioned yet. And I assume screamer only deals less damage, but the effects stay the same?

Yup, the effect for screamer is the same.

Also realized that Regirock and Regice do not actually gain HP when healed, it just shows the number. My mistake.

So they basicly do 0 damage?

Thxs for the Help Guys, I might just go and make an attempt today :)

Yup.

After studying this page 3 times over and keeping it up through the whole fight, I was able to beat epic difficulty on my first try.

Thank you so much for your added input, I played it extremely safe and it took from 10:30 till now to beat Goku not counting the rest of the fight. Once again thank you for your walk through it allowed me to got get mad and finish this in one go :D

Thanks for the guide, Auz, I've now completed both Hard and Epic modes, I could not have done it without your guide. :)

It would help if you had a link going to the game itself at the top of the FAQ

Thank you so much for this walkthrough. I've been avoiding the game until I had achieved at least a majority of the medals in the other games, and forced myself to play this.
Again- thanks, hehehe. Helped out a lot.

MWAHAHA my guide is longer :D

Well, I've got some points that you can add to this guide:

When fighting Goku, I always use the Rune Blade sword:
1 - It boosts Seiken (the most recommended attack against Goku).
2 - It has the highest magical defense (higher even than Stone Edge), so the Spirit Bomb do less damage to the fighter.
3 - It boosts the HP recover and the damage of Power Metal, an important attack to use when both characters are low on HP.
The only bad thing is that it has a lower defense, so it's more important to use protect with it.
Also, it's important to have some potions on this battle. The debuff attack of Goku hits only one character; so, if the lucky one to receive it is the mage, the fighter can heal her and she can use barrier.

About the game: it's important to economize itens. Needing an ether and depending on the moogle to give it to you is the worst thing that can happen when at the end of the game. I sometimes defend with the mage just to get some extra MP. And you can use the moogle too. Although it depends on the luck, potions and ethers are always good.
A important thing to know about Devil Sunrise (the MP recovery sword) is that it gets much more MP if you do a normal attack ( that gets around 400), rather than using ones like Legend (you have to waste MP and get less than you could). Don't forget that this sword focus is not the attack. It's always good to use it when facing easy enemies after wasting a decent amount of MP on the previous boss. I think it's useless against slimes and crabs, since you have max MP when facing them.
An important tip: in this game, the mage Heal recovers about 6000 HP, while the potions and the Healmore recover around 5000 HP. So, there are times that it's much more worth to use Heal (needs 25 MP) in one character and to make the other one to defend instead of wasting 75 MP with a Healmore.
In this game, every time the stage is switched, all bad status (poison, seal) are gone (Note: this doesn't happen with the stat boosts (buffs)). It's a good thing to, if possible, use Catastrophe against the Sentinel (in the next stage, the players have HP and MP fully recovered). And when possible, is good to use the buffs before starting a fight with a boss, so that you can attack him (or cause a negative buff) at the first turns of the battle. Use a buff, kill the last enemy standing, go to the boss.
NOTE: For the ones that can be curious, not all details on this game are the same on Epic Battle Fantasy 2. These are Epic Battle Fantasy (1) tips.

That's what I have to add. I hope it helps.

I died on the last boss in normal. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
