Anyway... Seems like you had a pretty good time in there! I like Snow Patrol as well, but it's a shame they didn't play for longer. Oh well... it's U2, right? =P
I've heard some rumours that U2 could come to where I live, in our city's 50th birthday. That would be amazing... if the rumours didn't mention that it could be a free concert as well. Seriously, a free U2 concert? In this year's party, 4 people died, and the shows weren't that great, although over 1 MILLION people showed up. How many would come for a U2 concert? How many would have to die so everyone could realise that these concerts simply don't work?
Meh, I hope they ditch the whole ''free concert'' idea. It just won't work. =/

Hey dude. Great overview. I often go to concerts and sometimes even take notes (at least just a setlist, if not commentary on it) at the time, for fear I'll forget later... but then I forget to put the notes into the computer or... lose 'em or whatever. For instance, I'm sure of the two U2 concerts I've been to, I've either written or typed (possibly) a setlist or review, but hell if I know where they've gone off to. ANYwho.
Very happy to see that Breathe is an opener. Still my fave from the album, as well, though Crazy has been growing on me since their video came out recently. The video MAKES that song for me, and it's now something I listen to every time I pop in the CD in the car, along with Breathe, Magnificent, and Fez/Being Born. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pmJgdX kAqMU
One big bone to pick with you, man. And I can't figure out your logic on this one. First you say: "Unfortunatly after this, all the usual songs started to pass by. The songs of which I told my gf that they were definitly gonna play them. Sunday Bloody Sunday, Pride, Where The Streets and One with Walk On and MLK as a change. I was hoping that they were gonna skip these for once and in my opinion the show kinda died here."
UNFORTUNATELY????!? .... But then you say: "Another bad point in my opinion was the lack of Boy, Zooropa and Pop songs and the relatively high quantity of All That You Can´t Leave Behind and How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb songs. Like I mentioned earlier, I´ve already seen a lot of recent live performances of those songs. I´d much rather hear songs from the earlier era´s."
And I highly agree with your latter statement, from the conclusion. A tour of COURSE is going to feature stuff from the latest album, and of course it should. Most fans haven't already seen U2 since the latest album, and thus the first chance to hear some of these new songs in a live format instead of the studio recordings... is great! But yes, the other two albums of this decade... while still SOMEwhat new, are not as urgent to play. I think that at MOST one or two songs from those albums should be the limit at the concert, whereas sure... 5 or 6 songs from the current album is fine.
I, too, would love to hear more from Boy and Zooropa (and October!)... don't care so much about POP, because while I think you once said in LUL that it's underrated, and I agree, my first U2 concert was from that tour, so I heard 'em all then, don't need so many of 'em to be in their concerts anymore, personally.
Glad to see that Unforgettable Fire was in the set list, since together with the ALWAYS-played Pride (and even some MLK, as you said), that gave some real representation to the album by the same name, one of my fave albums of theirs after the two "biggies" and War.
But anyway, to me, a U2 show is NOT a complete U2 show without a few definite must-plays. Pride, the song that got me into U2, Where the Streets Have No Name, possibly my 2nd fave U2 song, and One, which I don't play very often due to it being a bit more of a downer than those two aforementioned inspirational ones, but still a classic and very required listening live. I'm also a big fan of Walk On, though it's by no means yet a classic. Looking at your set list, I have to say that overall I approve, but two songs I don't feel need to be in every concert are Still Haven't Found... and With or Without You. They're not quite on that "must be played at every concert" level, IMO, plus I'd rather they put some LESSER heard stuff from Joshua Tree in the rotation along with the pillar that is Where the Streets. How about some Red Hill Mining Town? Some In God's Country? I know they won't play one of my faves, One Tree Hill, due to its personal meaning for Bono and the band from back in that tour with the death of their roadie, but... so many other great songs from the back half of that album.
I would also add to the list, these wishes:
* I Will Follow (WTF? Not on there.. stunning)
* Electric Co or one of the other great back-half-of-Boy songs
* Gloria
* Like a Song... (best song on War, but I know Sunday Bloody Sunday is the must play. I wish Like a Song... shared that distinction is all)
* Heartland (best song on Rattle and Hum)
* Lemon or Some Days are Better than Others or something from the back half of Zooropa
* Kite, which to me is even better than Walk On, and I usually listen to them both at the same time, just like with SBS and Like a Song... they go together to me.
However, you definitely can't say that Unforgettable Fire, Joshua Tree, and Achtung Baby are underrepresented, so that's nice, at least. But yeah, nothing from Boy or October or Zooropa. Not ONE song from any of 'em? (sigh)
