Pokemon Bahamut Version

"Brings back memories"

date: 14 hours ago

This sure brings back a lot good memories about the original pokemon versions.

I can still remember your first flash animations with your own drawings and you have improved a lot since then. A lot of things actually looked fairly good, like the PS3, the DS, the pokeballs, the cap, Professor Oak and several other things. The animation could have been slightly better sometimes though, like the walking animation for Graham, but I think that also added a bit to the humor. Maybe it would have been even funnier if some things were intentionally drawn really poorly.

For the rest I kinda have to agree with Chriis07's when he said that it could use some more voices. I don't know if Graham is also you, but perhaps it would be good if you had practiced on some more voices. Even if it sounds really bad, it might also add to the humor you know.

Overall 10 out of 10, 5 out of 5. Although I don't think I have seen all your flashes yet, this is the best Bahamut flash that I can remember.

"Always wondered what was up with this submission"

date: November 22, 2009

You know, I have been wondering for such a long time now: Why does this submission not show any info on your userpage? Does it have something to do with the title being too long or something? I just can't figure it out.

Anyway, very nice ending on this epic battle :p I liked how you first showed the battle at the previous years and then the ending which lasted not more than 5 seconds and ended in a draw. On one hand that was pretty lame, but on the other hand it was just the perfect ending. I also loved the music you picked for this flash. Suited it very well in my opinion.

Too bad this was the end of the series though. I would have loved to see another episode on clockday and there are still plenty of other fun things you could have done with this series I think.

Overall 10 out of 10.

Extremely long title FTW! :D

I don't know what else I could have done with this series. Maybe show Mario and Sonic fighting in hell? :P

"Not bad, but not too good either"

submission: Fig. 8
date: November 21, 2009

I liked the idea and the setting of the game. I also liked the music you added, it was very relaxing. There were a few things however that sorta ruined this game for me.

One thing that I found rather annoying was the fact that you had to circle around a checkpoint, causing your multiplier to drop back to zero. It sorta felt like the game punished you for using checkpoints, especially if you had just build up a high multiplier. Another annoying thing about the checkpoints was that it seemed to put you back in the position at which you had completed the circle. I remember near the end I died once and the checkpoint put me back in such an awkward way that I died half a dozen times more. On top of that, I believe the game had sort of a bug at that checkpoint. The screen just sped up for a second so that I had even less time to get my bicycle straight.

Another complaint I have is that the game is incredibly long and repetitive. I never had any idea if I was near the end or not and only after about half an hour I finally got to the finish. Half an hour of gameplay is normally alright, but there was nothing more to this game than simply dodging lines and trying to build up your multiplier. The ending was also a bit of a disappointment since it just starts over again.

Overall 7 out of 10, 3 out of 5. A good idea, but worked out poorly. I hope you'll try to come up with an improvement someday.

Fly Squirrel Fly

"Not bad, but could be better"

submission: Fly Squirrel Fly
date: November 19, 2009

It's fairly well made and I can see that quite a lot of effort has been put into this. The graphics looked very nice and I loved the music. I preferred this relaxing theme well over the action theme Toss The Turtle uses actually. Also I liked the prehistoric setting and you added plenty of items and creatures you could hit while up in the air. There is still some room for improvement though.

Somewhere this point came where I had a feeling that you could hardly get any further. That point came about when I bought everything of the first upgrade set. Prices suddenly went up by about 5-10 times the price of the former set, but I wasn't earning that much more cash with the upgrades. Sure I was able to get a lot further now, but this did not result in that much extra cash if I didn't hit a whole lot of objects along the way. And so I had to perform dozens of flights where I landed at about 2000m, only earning between $100-200 per flight while the upgrades started to cost around $2000 and way up. You can imagine I start to lose interest after a while if I don't see much progress.

So my suggestion is you either make the upgrades cheaper, make distance a more important factor in earning cash, make upgrades more effective or simply add a few more upgrade sets between the current ones.

Another complaint I have is that while there are many objects up in the air, it was kinda hard to steer your squirrel towards them. So you mostly had to rely on the luck that something gets in your flight path. And once you came down, the chances were very low that a stick of dynamite or something else would break your fall. I think this was mostly due to the fact that the squirrel quickly seemed to drop almost vertically once he went downwards. But once he hit the ground he suddenly went more horizontal again which seemed a bit unnatural. Since there wasn't much that could help you on the ground either, you pretty much knew that once you went downwards the flight was over.

Personally I would solve this by making the squirrels drop a bit more horizontal if he still has a lot of speed. This increases the chance of hitting something by quite a bit. Also you could make the ground items appear more frequently.

Overall 7 out of 10, 3 out of 5. I think this was a fairly enjoyable, addictive game, but it could still use a few improvements. If you work on it a bit more, I think this could easily win a daily first.

"Good first episode"

date: November 18, 2009

I'm not sure what Hitler was holding there. Looked like a simon says themed beach ball or something. That's not the first thing that comes to mind here when I think of Germany. Personally I was thinking of stuff like beer, bratwurst and Oktoberfest. They're also known here for digging holes on the beach, but I think that's a dutch people vs germans thing.

Anyway nice first episode although it could've used a few more items. Good location you picked though, in front of the Brandenburger Tor. I can't think of a better place for Hitler to start his journey.

Overall 9 out of 10.

"Nice episode"

date: November 18, 2009

Yeah the windmills, tulips and cheese represent my country quite well. A joint in Hitlers mouth would've been nice as well. I think the legal soft drugs policy is actually the thing a lot of people here are most proud of. With that perhaps you could've transformed Hitler a bit into the Frau Antje Haggard mentioned. It basically covers every stereotype about us dutch people.

Anyway, my only complaint is that the two items Hitler was holding were of very poor quality. I can't really read or see what's on the cheese and I wonder why those tulips were so white in color. I could just barely recognize they were tulips, mostly by the shape. You could've perhaps paid a bit more attention to that. But other than that, this was a nice episode.

Overall 10 out of 10, 5 out of 5.

"A fantastic movie"

submission: Tarboy
date: November 11, 2009

This was a fantastic movie in my honest opinion. It was dramatic, violent, funny, dark and lighthearted all at the same time, making it very unique. I must say that I love your drawing style. Everything was drawn really well and your use of colors was simply amazing. I also loved your choices for music. It had a pretty wide variety of music genres (I think), giving the movie a very different atmosphere with each scene. The voice-acting was another good point. I especially liked the old man's voice. He sounded like a standard old man from cartoons, I thought that was very funny. For the rest it's nice that you added some extra's. They were pretty interesting as well.

The only complaint I can think of is that the animation came over a bit choppy at some points, but I think the main reason that happened is simply because my computer can't handle it. So it's not a big deal.

Overall 10 out of 10, 5 out of 5. It's been a long time since I've seen a movie this good. You did an excellent job and I can't wait to see more from you. Added this movie to my favorites, keep up the good work.

Zelda: Lean Link (VGDC)

"Nicely made"

date: November 9, 2009

This was a very nice little short. The audio you used from the commercial sounded kinda funny and the graphics and animation you added was well done. I liked the "Dear Link, WTF?"-letter, and since it was so high paced I'm sure I missed some other jokes in the movie.

Anyway, for such a short movie you really went overkill with the menu-screen. I mean, it looked really good with lots of options and stuff. It almost looks like you put as much effort in the menu as in the rest of the movie. Two menus with play buttons were a bit unnecessary though. It might've been better if you immediately get taken to the main menu from the preloader and then put the intro somewhere after you hit the play button there. But it's no big deal.

I found the easter egg as well by the way. It was again well made, but I'm still not quite sure what it was about. I could hardly see what those red things were. I suppose they were enemies of some kind, but whatever was happening at the end was left to the imagination :p Not sure what Toad was doing in those bushes either, but perhaps I shouldn't think too much about it.

Overall 8 out of 10, 4 out of 5. A very well done short in my opinion. Keep up the good work!

Super Stacker 2

"Very nice game"

submission: Super Stacker 2
date: October 27, 2009

This sure is a very fun and addicting game. First off, the sounds and music of this game were very good. I especially liked that catchy jazz tune you added at the beginning. I just had to replay it over and over again, I loved it. I liked the "boom" sounds the shapes make as well, it sounds kinda funny. Beside the sounds and music, the graphics were also pretty good. Everything looked very nice and colorful, yet very simple.

I thought this game had a very realistic physics engine as well. Except for when the really large shapes came in. For some reason all the shapes below the big shape start to shake out of control while the big shape would normally compress them, increasing the friction making it harder for them to move. So that could've been done better perhaps. But other than that, it was very good and felt very realistic in most levels.

Furthermore I thought the level designs were great. They got very challenging in the end and you really had to think and try a couple of times before you knew how to stack them up right. Then when you completed the game, the extra mode gave an even bigger challenge. I thought that was a very nice idea since it adds some replay value to the game.

Overall 9 out of 10, 5 out of 5. A very nice game like I said. Looking forward to a third version of this game. Keep up the excellent work.

"Nice, but not so pretty"

submission: Melodies
date: September 8, 2009

I think the idea of this game was pretty good. It seems like a mix of several older concepts, but you managed to turn it into something fun and new. I think it´s nice that you made it focus on the music. I like the piano as an instrument and I really liked the music in this game.

What I think this game needs though is a serious graphical upgrade. The grey background, the white and black text and the black squares were a little simplistic. Those are also rather boring colors to use. On top of that I think the colored balls or notes actually looked a bit ugly with the white border around it. What I suggest is that you at least add some more color to the background. I think such a small thing could already make it look a whole lot prettier.

Overall 7 out of 10, 3 out of 5. Like I said, work on the graphics and I think you got a pretty good game here.
