Nice try

I think a lot of things don´t have the right size. Houses are too small, the world map itself is too large, rupees are too big, the text box is way too big, characters were a little small etc. What you should deffinatly do is put more stuff on the world map and make it smaller. Add trees, paths, bushes, holes, statues and try to make an actual village.

The battle system could´ve been better also. I seemed to have unlimited HP and MP. It was refilled every time I attacked. The graphics could´ve been way better as well, right now it just looked... weird.

More stuff that needs improvement:
-The game lags when changing walking directions.
-There was no walking animation.
-You could get unlimited rupees. Make them dissapear after you collected them.
-The music stops playing after a while.

The only good thing in this flash that I can think of is that some of the most important programming did work. The game was still playable, I never got stuck or anything because of bugs.

Overall 4 out of 10, 2 out of 5. It was a nice try, but it deffinatly needs a lot more work. I think you are able to make something good out of this, if you just take some more time.

Cool, thanks.

Great!

I must say, this is one of the most fun kitten cannon type games I´ve ever played. The graphics were pretty good, the sounds were good, but what I liked most was the fact that you actually had some influence during the flight by being able to let the kitten float for a while. This was a great idea since some of the flights took long and it would be boring to sit back and watch your kitten gets blown up over and over again. I do think the kitten had too much energy though, I could float for about a whole minute which was a little long.

Another bad point was that the high score list didn´t always seemed to load properly, which was too bad since I had a good top 10 score in height (1100+ feet) and possibly a top 10 score in distance as well (12,540 feet). I wasn´t able to submit these which was kinda frustrating since the flight was like almost 5 minutes long.

Overall 8 out of 10, 4 out of 5. It was a very enjoyable game. I hope to see some more. Keep up the excellent work.

Scottoons responds:

Wow, thanks Auz. I appreciate the feedback! You have mentioned exatly why I made this game... to have some control during flight. :) THat's what I wanted when playing the other cannon launcher games. I'm not sure what is going on with the leaderboards. Most of the time it connects great but there are some odd instances where it does not.
Thank you again for the comments!

Good tutorial

I already knew most of the stuff in this tutorial, but that´s okay. It was easy to follow and it explains the most important stuff about sprites. It´s good that you added a lot of pics as examples, it really helped the explanation. The lay-out was also pretty nice. The text was easy to read, except for the song titles. Maybe you should use a different font for them.

As for what else could improve. The only thing is that I didn´t like any of the three songs much. But at least you added three totally different songs and at least I could turn them off by using that handy button you added, so it´s alright.

Overall 8 out of 10, 4 out of 5. If you follow this closely I´m sure you´ll should be able to make a decent sprite movie. You did a pretty good job here, keep up the good work. I´ll suggest this for the flash tutorial collection.

Well, I'm glad you liked the usefulness of it, the songs are "Zetsubo Billy, by Maximum the Hormone", "Ichirrino Hana, by High and Mighty Color" and the more famous "Fukai Mori, by Do As Infinity.". Sorry you didn't like them, but thats all chocked up to person opinion. I mean, how was I supposed to know what kind of songs you like?
But thanks for your review. I'm glad you found it helpful.

Nice

Cool, I was two digits above average on my highest score :p I must say it kinda depended on what number showed up. 121,212,121 is obviously easier to remember than 456,234,787 for example. But like you said, you needed a couple of tries before you could really make an accurate guess on how good your short term memory is. It might´ve been better if you had made it so that you get a few tries, the game remembers your scores and gives you an average in the end.

The game itself was pretty well made in my opinion. Very nice backgroundmusic, nice music buttons, graphics were alright and I didn´t found any bugs. The only thing that you can still improve by a bit is the lay-out I think. Especially the font and color of the text. That was a bit standard, try a nicer looking font and perhaps make the textcolor white. The clock just looked a bit ugly in my opinion and maybe you should change the backgroundcolor as well.

Overall 7 out of 10, 3 out of 5. I think this was pretty good. I hope you´re gonna try and improve this game and perhaps make a more expanded version with more kinds of memory tests and stuff. Keep up the great work!

Thanks for the review! I really need to develop some sense of artisticness; everyone says it's not that great, lol. But I'm glad you liked the gameplay, and I will DEFINITELY work a whole lot on the visuals of the next one.

Good game

This was a pretty good game in my opinion. The graphics are nice, but not that spectacular. I also liked the fact that your "pile of dirt" keeps getting bigger which made the game harder and harder as you proceeded. The last few levels were really insane though, even on wimpy level I had trouble trying to survive. I doubt it's possible to beat this on medium or an even higher level. Anyways, I think the system of having to pick up upgrades instead of having to buy them was a good idea as well.

As for what could improve. The game got a little repetive after a while. I think you should deffinatly add different types of enemies. Enemies that are big and slow, enemies that are weak but fast etc. Maybe even some boss enemies. That would make it a bit more interesting. Different types of weapons could be nice too. Not just energyballs, but also laserbeams, rockets and stuff like that to shoot at your enemies. Ability to lay down mines would probably be fun as well.

Overall 8 out of 10, 4 out of 5. The game could still use a bit of improvement, but overall I think it was nicely made. Keep up the good work.

pillowbasher responds:

Thanks a lot.

Haha, it probably is impossible in the harder modes, I think I might have made the dirt too big.

Good

The good parts: I think the graphics were okay. The background looked pretty good (especially the sky in the desert level) and the things on the foreground looked alright too. Also, it´s very nice that this game has a save option. I didn´t have to start over from the beginning now in case I got stuck or anything, that was good. What kind of suprised me in a positive way was that I found very few bugs. I expected a lot of things wouldn´t work properly, but this wasn´t the case.

The bad parts: I didn´t found my bugs like I just said. But sadly I found one very big one. I got stuck in the story mody at the second boss :( During the conversation the screen suddenly turned black, the music kept playing and nothing else happened. I reloaded my game, tried for a second time and again the screen turned black. You should take a look at this. Also, I think you might get stuck if you don´t have any ammo in a stage where you have to kill all enemies or destroy some of those platforms. It didn´t happen to me, luckily, but it would be a shame if you have to quit your game for that. You should allow us to go back to the shop or make the handgun have unlimited ammo. Another bad point was that the normal enemies were way too easy to defeat. Those rocks and mushrooms only moved up and down and from the right the left a little, they didn´t seem to be attacking or anything. I was hit only once by them and my only concern in the game was my ammo amount. So try to make the enemies stronger.

Overall 7 out of 10, 3 out of 5. I think it was quite an enjoyable game, but it could still use some improvement. I hope you can fix that stuff at level 2´s boss, cause it kinda ruined the game for me :(

Abs55 responds:

Thanks for the reveiw. I'm glad you liked the background because I spent a lot time making the backgrounds look good. I added the save feature as I didn't in my other games and wanted to test it out and it works fine and is good feature.

The bug that you found on the second boss conversation, I am not sure what caused it, I checked my code in the fla but still can't find the error. I will look into it and try to fix it and make sure that this doesn't happen with any of my other games.

I included the limited ammo because I just didn't want the player to just shoot at things carelessly so if he/she didn't have any ammo left, it's their fault completely but I guess I could add go back to shop or something like that. I will improve the enemies next time.

Thanks again for the thorough review :)

Annoying

I think the idea was good, but I found it annoying to play to be honest. The green block kept changing it´s direction all the time and when I finally got my mouse on it the red block was very close so I had to move it off and go chasing the green one again. This all kinda pissed me off. I know the game wouldn´t be very challenging if the blocks kept going in straight lines, but you could make them move a bit slower and make them have some moving-pattern that they´ll follow for a while. Not the complete randomness it was now.

Also I missed the replay button and right click => rewind didn´t take me to the beginning either. Please add some kinda button that starts the game over again, it´s not that hard to make.

Overall 4 out of 10, 2 out of 5. I didn´t like it much. I suggest you try to develop the game a bit more. Perhaps add a few power-ups or something (+ points? slower blocks? no effects from red block?). Also work on a better lay-out.

Koeberto190 responds:

Well duh the green block kept changing directions, thats the point! It's supposed to be hard, I'm not going to make it too easy, it's supposed to be a challenge, not something that everyone will be amazing at. And about the replay button, I tried adding one but the actionscript I had for it clashed with the actionscript of the timer, so it didn't work. I ended up taking it out.

Not too good

It had it´s good parts, it had it´s bad parts. One of the good parts was that you could click on things to bring them in front, I liked that. And there were plenty of objects, weapons, body parts and other stuff to use which is also a plus. It was also really good that it had a "Sound OFF" button, cause the music was pretty repetive.

As for the bad parts: Even though the clicking on items to bring them in front was good, there was a problem with this. That is that you bring them in front of the title screen as well when you go back. Speaking of the title screen, that could use some improvement too if you ask me, it looked a bit ugly and empty. But the most important bad thing was the lagging. That was really annoying, you should try to get rid of it cause it does ruin the game (like Imacow already said). Even starting the game took a few seconds.

Overall 4 out of 10, 2 out of 5. Not the most original idea for a game as there are plenty of these already. And most of them were better ones, but I see this is one of your first flashes ever so it´s okay. Good luck if you´re gonna make more.

AntoArts-Admin responds:

Yeah, I know.... I made this almost a year ago, I've learnt me much, so MSC III will be much more powerfull, more objects (and even with that, no lagging!!), bringing to front when clicking and holding down the mouse at the object and at the same time pressing space.... Arrow keys will be used to scale and rotate objects, music won't be so pumping etc... So MSC III will basically be the biggest improvement ever at MSC....

Okay

Hmm, it was an okay game in my opinion. I´ve seen more of these one on one RPG fights and this was one of the not-so-many decent ones. The good parts were the "press"-system, I thought that was pretty original. Also the drawings were alright, could be improved still, but they were okay. And the music was okay too, although a lot of people use FF battle music for RPG games like this.

The bad parts were that the characters were only shapes and not actual fighters with cool weapons, nice clothes etc. The special were kinda basic, I wasn´t too impressed by them (but that´s okay). Also the press thingie for when the enemy attacked didn´t seem to work. He did the same amount of damage, whether I press it or not. Since he did 700 damage and I could only heal for 500 (instead of 1,000), I always lost the battle. I suppose the only way to beat the game is to do a massive combo with the multiple attack, but it´s gonna take ages to do 50k damage when it only does 100-500 at a time.

Overall 5 out of 10, 2 out of 5. Like I said, it was an okay game. Needs a few more improvements, but it was pretty good for a first try.

flashmac responds:

I totally see what you mean. It's not great by any means.
Also, I know I made some stupid choices when it comes to desing, but I'm fixing all of it on my next game. I don't know yet, but I might make another battle like this just to show you guys how I'm doing.

P.S. I know he has waaaaaaaaaaay to much health........sorry about that!

Not very interested

Sorry, but I´m not very interested in the full verion. This demo wasn´t that great. It just had one battle with one option (well two actually, but "do nothing" is pointless) and it didn´t even work properly. The HP of the enemy didn´t changed right after I attacked, so I couldn´t really tell if I was close to killing him or not. His HP suddenly went from 40 to -10 or something. And the play-again button at the end didn´t work either. When I pressed it, my character said "Yeah" again and he lost some of his HP :s

I think it needs some work on the graphics as well. I can´t say they were very very bad, but they weren´t too good either. I suggest you try to improve your drawing skills a little. Last: Could you get rid of the negative numbers in the HP? I think -10 looks a bit ugly, it should stop at 0.

Overall 3 out of 10, 1 out of 5. Like I said, I´m not really interested in the full version. I strongly suggest you try to improve your flash skills a little before turning this into a real RPG.

wolfinator-x responds:

The full version will most-probably not be on flash.

Sorry for play again: I had all the script but for some bizarre reason it did not work.

Sorry for the graphics; back then they seriously sucked.

For the -10, I didn't care, and I didn't know how.
