Needs a lot of work on the lay-out

You added a lot of different chao´s in the game which was nice, but it seems like you didn´t put much effort in the lay-out of the game. The main screen did not have a background and you really need to straighten the eggs a little. I know there´s an align tool somewhere so that´s quite easy (you could also just look at the x and y coördinates).

All the eggs were also just dropped somewhere at the left side of the screen while there was a huge blank square to the right. I suggest you fill up that square with some eggs. I think two rows (one row of six, one row of five) from the left side to the right side of the screen would look pretty good. You put the five eggs underneath the gaps of the row of six. Above that you can put the credits which should also be spread over the whole screen. Then you just need a more colorfull background and it all looks way better.

Anyways, of course there´s also some good stuff in this game. Like I already said, it was good that there were many different chao guys to dress up. The amount of stuff you could dress them up with was also okay. But what I really liked was the backgroundmusic. It was quite a nice tune, a bit tropical-island like.

Overall 6 out of 10, 3 out of 5. I´m personally not such a big fan of dress up games, but this one was alright in my opinion. I just hope you put some more work in the lay-out, that´s the most important thing. Anyway, keep it up and good luck with your next flash.

thanx. If I have some extra time on my hands Ill do some stuff with the backround for the main menu. As for the adding extra eggs part, I could barrly find all the eggs I have now... I dout i could find 11 more. thank you very much for looking at my game I hope it entertained you for a little

Nicely made, but...

I think the game is nicely made. The graphics were pretty good and the music and sounds were also nice. However, the fighting system could be improved in my opinion. All you could do was stand next to an enemy and hold d till the enemy dies, hoping that you don´t die yourself. And you can jump over him a few times, but the enemy turns around immediatly so that´s just pointless. Only when you had a good amount of rage you could do some decent combo stuff. But unfortunaly the rage meter lowers very quickly and you had to do the hold d again to fill it up.
Too bad you lose against the stronger monsters this way, unless you attack them once then run away, then attack them again and run away etc. But that was just annoying.

So I suggest you add some more ways to attack. Attacking while jumping should always be possible in my opinion. And also, when you hit an enemy, I think he shouldn´t be able to attack for a very short while. At least you can kill enemies then without losing much health yourself.

Overall 7 out of 10, 4 out of 5. The game is pretty good this way, but I would give it much higher if there were more possibilities in battles. I hope you´ll work a bit more on that. Keep up the good work.

Myroid responds:

Thanks for the review!

Have you tried using Heroic Strike? It's a quick killer that costs 10 rage and does normal weapon damage x3.

Nice game, but I got stuck

A pretty good game, never really seen anything like it before. The graphics were pretty good, I especially liked how the base was made with those thingies circeling around it. The sounds were also pretty good, although the music got a little boring after a while. There were a few other bad things as well.

When I died and wanted to continue again, I kept the same score and there were no lives or anything. So you could get an incredibly high score by just destroying a few spaceships and then letting yourself die. I think you should either add some lives, or make us start over again, or let the score go back to where it was when you started that level. Another bad thing was that you switched between upgrades when you hitted another one. This was a bit annoying in my opinion since I only wanted to keep the spreadshot. If you could just have all three of them at the same time, it would´ve been a lot better. The last bad thing was that I was stuck at level 7. There was a spaceship with shields at the left top corner, and when I deflected his shots it took so long that the enemy was already back into his shield when the rock(?) got there. The only way I could win was by deflecting a few of his shots again and again till one hitted him right when he opened his shields. But this was just too hard, could you please turn that guy into a normal spaceship?

Overall 7 out of 10, 3 out of 5. A pretty good game like I said, but too bad I couldn´t get further after the seventh level. Hope you can change it a little. Anyway, congrats with your daily third and keep up the good work.

freeworldgroup responds:

yeah we might alter the scoring a bit, so you lose points if you continue... The level 7 spaceship can be killed - just make sure you draw the deflector line right next to the boarder of the space station circle to reduce flight time.

Nice game, but found a little bug

It´s certainly not a bad game. Especially the graphics were very nice. But I believe there is a little bug in your game. I found out you had to complete the game by going through the underground maze, but there is another (much easier) way as well. From the beginning: If you walk all the way towards the right and then all the way up and then take the right path. You´ll end up in a mountain with stairs. The character will walk over the bridge towards the other side, if you continue from here, you can walk through the stonepath and continue your way towards the end. The game won´t do anything when you reach the end however. But could you please take a look at this?

As for other things. although the maze will look a little less good, I suggest you make the stone path in straight lines. The character started to shake a little when you touched the stones. And perhaps you could make the dead ends in the underground maze a little bit shorter as well. It´s very annoying if you walk for miles and then suddenly reach a dead end and have to walk back.

Overall 7 out of 10, 3 out of 5. Still a nice game, not something I would want to play over and over again, but it was fun for a while. Good graphics like I said, nice music at the background and it´s nice that you added some landmarks and stuff. One last suggestion: Some more levels will be a big improvement =) Keep up the good work.

flashgismo responds:

Lol, You're right, who would want to play a traditional maze game over and over ? >.> actually I wouldnt play it again. now this is older than blocky game, I've made this last year. and I thought it would be better to post it than throw it away. although I didnt like it much, yet I can still see something in the graphic is good. else I know if I wanted to fix it to better it would be more awsome. just as you know sometimes its hard to get to an old thing and renew it. I prefer to make a new thing or work in other things. espiceally that I bought the domain www.vincent-valentine.com and I'm thinking in a big project :p

Great game

I think it was a very nice game. It has good graphics, nice sounds, a nice story and I especially like all the different game modes you added.

There were a few bad things in this as well though. First of, controlling the plane was a little annoying and I´m talking about moving to the right or the left. It accelerates very slowly and once I was finally behind the plane I wanted to attack, it kept on moving till it was at the side of the screen. I suppose this was to make it look more realistic, but I just got a little annoyed by it. And I was lucky the enemy planes also went to the side of the screen a lot, otherwise the battles would take very long.

Second, when there was a lot of firing and a lot of explosions etc. the game started to run a little slow and the sound-quality became very bad.

And third, I dunno if you did this on purpose, but the enemies could actually shoot eachother down while they were attacking me. I thought that was great of course, it made huge battles a lot easier, but perhaps you want to change that.

Overall 8 out of 10, 4 out of 5. I enjoyed this game. I´ve been playing it for quite a while now and I´m still not bored or anything. Still it could be a little bit better, I hope you will improve a bit on all the stuff I wrote above. Congrats with you daily first and please make some more...

~Auz

josh-tamugaia responds:

Your review is very meaningful and informative. I appreciate it.

Well, for the plane controls, the slow acceleration is because of the plane model. If you use a different model (not in campaign mode), it could be faster.

Sound quality, yea, it became bad when lots of explosions happen. I'll be sure to avoid that in later games.

3rd, yea I did that on purpose, to make huge battles a lot easier, as you predicted. I won't wanna take the way the fun of dodging an enemy laser that would later gun down the enemy's on ally!

Thanks again for the review. Avian Wars 2 (if there is one) will be in 3D. I'm fed up of the limitations of 2D.

Simple...I liked it

Personally I think this was the best version of Fishy that I´ve every played. It was very nice that you could choose the diffeculity level. And that you could make the game as diffecult as you wanted with the custom menu was great. Moving to the left and to the right was also new to me. It´s nothing big, but I liked it cause you don´t get trapped by huge fishes in a corner now. Always thought that was very annoying in the other Fishy games.

The graphics in this were decent. It´s probably the only thing that you could improve on. Unless you added powerups and stuff like that. Would be cool, but I´m not sure if that really is such a good idea. Anyway, you could improve a little on the graphics like I said. Nothing looked bad, but it could look a little better. However, if you decide to work on the graphics a bit more, do try to keep it simple. The simple style of this flash was also something that I really liked. And I also liked the music. Even if it was the same tune the whole time, it didn´t bored me or anything...

Overall 8 out of 10, 4 out of 5. Well it was great in my opinion, one of the best things I´ve seen today actually. I really hope it´ll win an award. It´s not gonna win a daily first or review crew pick or anything, but daily 4th-5th... Anyway keep up the good work and hope to see some more from you.

adypete responds:

thanx for the review

yeah, about the graphics, im not normaly any good at graphics, but i gave it a ok this time and thaught they where ok, but yes, im sure they could be better

and yeah, i thaught about powerups and such, but decided id like to keep the game nice and simple, don't want to complecate the game

i too hope it wins an award, but not too sure on its chances

Making it shorter is a big improvement

I played it while it was under judgement yesterday and even though it looked pretty good, I thought it was very, very boring. It took ages before you finally got to the bottom. But I see that you made the game a lot shorter now, which is a very big improvement in my opinion.

However, isn´t it a whole lot harder to win the game? I really did the best I could, but the highest score I got was only 48%. I dunno what the minimum score is to win, but it seems impossible to me to beat this game. You´ve made the enemies come in a lot faster, but Kin Edd is still very slow. I think it would be fair if he got a little speed boost as well, it would make the game a bit easier.

As for other stuff, well everything still looks great. Liked the style of this game a lot. The music got a little boring after a while, but since the game doesn´t take that long anymore, it´s okay. The interactivity could improve a little bit maybe. I prefer to use the keyboard instead of the mouse.

Overall 7 out of 10, 3 out of 5. Yesterday I wanted to review it and I would´ve given it a 4 out of 10 probably. Making it shorter was a great idea. Anyway, congrats with the award and keep up the good work.

Leonardo-Da-Finchy responds:

The minimum score to win is 50%. The minimum score for a great victory is 75%, which I struggle to get myself, but is possible.

I'm glad you liked the style, and... I'm still figuring out how to incorporate keyboard commands. The game isn't harder at all, the enemies don't come any quicker, it just switches type sooner. Maybe you just got into the flow of things before (which is why it got so boring) but now there isn't time.

Reading your review was the first time I knew of the reward!

Thanks for the review!

Please make a lot more of these

Whan an incredibly cool game. I´ve been here for quite a long time now, but I´ve never played a game were you had to use your webcam before. I never played eyetoy either, so these games are quite new to me. Anyway, it´s much more interactive then games were you just have to use your mouse and keyboard, I like that. It´s also pretty funny to see yourself making all those weird movements in front of the PC, so I gave some points for humor as well.

The only bad part about this game is that it´s only one type of game, bursting bubbles. I really hope you can add a few more minigames in your next version, cause playing the same game over and over again does get boring after a while of course. You could add some other stuff as well, like options to turn the music off and on etc. It´s not really necessary, but still nice.

Overall 9 out of 10, 5 out of 5. Well what I think was a little annoying is that if I move to the right, I move to the left on the screen, but this is probably cause of my webcam like you said. Anyway, I would give this a 10 if you would add a few more minigames to this. I´m looking forward to your next version, keep up the excellent work.

EliteNewbie responds:

i was planning on creating a little fun pack, but didn't actually think the game would be so well liked :D i'm definitly planning for more, and have some stuff already in the works :D They are even more different than this... lets just hope my maths is as good as my ideas :D

Very nice RPG

Currently I´m in the mine, and I am quite impressed with what I´ve seen so far. The backgrounds and graphics are really awesome, although maybe you could add a few more special effects when attacking. The sounds and music are also excellent, I really liked the music, suited the game very well. Other things I liked were the story, the many different items, the attacks and skill points, different enemies, different area´s, save option and especially the weird looking main character. Most RPG´s have some cool looking guy as a main character, so it made it a little different from the other RPG´s.

There are just a few small things I´d like to complain about though. First off, you get loads of extra HP after leveling up while the damage the enemies do does not increase much. I know that´s probably because all the good armors you find along the way, but I think you should make the enemies a bit stronger. Some enemies also have quite a lot of HP themselves, which makes some battles very long (and boring).

Second, well while my HP grows a lot, my energy has not increased at all (yet). I think you should add an MP meter and then seperate energy (for skills) and MP (for spells). Also make your energy go up as well, cause it´s a little annoying your energy is already gone after using 2 or 3 moves.

Third, well this annoyed me a bit at the beginning, but sometimes I forgot to take the spoils so maybe they should be picked up automaticly. Later on I did not forget though, so if it´s too much trouble changing it, just keep it this way.

Overall 9 out of 10, 5 out of 5. I really enjoyed this game so far and I hope I still have a long way to go before I reach the end. Good that it has a save option, cause it´s getting pretty late here and I don´t think I can finish the game today. Would be a shame if I had to start all over again. Anyway, congrats with your daily first, fully deserved it. I hope it´ll get the weekly first as well. Keep up the excellent work.

Great suggestions, thanks for the review! :D

Great game

Good things:
-3D. That's pretty cool, you rarely see games with 3D enviroments like this one here on Newgrounds.
-The Music. The music was really great in my opinion. I liked all the different songs you used for the bosses. The sounds were also awesome.
-The upgrades like the bombs and speed ups were nice. It's good that you have to use those to defeat the bosses.

Bad things:
-Well the quality of the graphics were pretty bad. Especially in the beginning. Luckily they got a little bit better later on, but they were still not that great. I hope you can improve those a little, if not, well too bad then.
-It was too easy. I only got hit a few times by the rocks that popped from the ground but that was only at the second and third boss. I didn't lost any life at the fourth and fifth boss. They didn't seemed to fight back at all, they just kept running/swimming. Also there were too many of those green fairies (or fireflies), so you could quickly recover when you were hit. Try to make the game a little bit harder.
-The bosses take too long. As I said above, the bosses were easy, but it took ages to defeat one. This made the game a little bit boring.

Overall 8 out of 10, 4 out of 5. It's a pretty good game I think. Could use still use a little bit of work at some places, but altogether it was nice. It deserves an award. Keep up the excellent work.

popopt responds:

I like how you divided up your points Auz - makes it easy for me to see what needs work and what's already working. Thanks for posting the indepth and helpful review:)
