Looked very nice, but still needs some more work

Graphics: These were pretty good. The drawings were very nice. The colors were bright which looked good, although maybe they were a bit too bright. The textstyle and color were also excellent. Can´t complain much when it comes to graphics.

Sounds/Music: The music was nice, suited the movie well, but it´s good that you added a "music off" button. I got a bit annoyed by the song after a while. It´s too bad that you didn´t add any sounds in this. I think it would´ve been better if it had some sounds.

Interactivity: Well it had a pretty good looking menuscreen and the turn the music off button was a good idea like I said above. About the games, they were fun to play for a short while, but I got a bit bored soon. I mean, the "build a snowman" game takes too long. The % competed went up too slow. You should speed it up a little. You could also make us use more buttons then just the spacebar. The memory game was easy in the beginning, but suddenly became very hard after level 5. I still managed to get through a few levels, but I think it would be better if in the first two or three levels you just have to remember two snowman. Then from the next couple of levels three snowman. Then four, then five etc. That would make it easier and more fun to play I think.

Overall 7 out of 10, 3 out of 5. Still gave it quite a decent score cause of the excellent lay-out and a few other things. The idea of adding simple games was also good, but they need a bit more work. Also, you could add some more minigames to this. I´m sure you can think of a few more to expand it. Games where you have to collect/catch stuff for example. Anyway, keep it up.

Wow thanx for the detailed review. Umm with the music i didnt really listen to it becuase i had to get it finnished today also about the Build-A-Snowman i should of made it quicker to get up to 100% and i couldnt really think of a n e other games to add to it because of the rush to finnish it.

I liked this game a lot

Graphics: The graphics were very nice in this game. I can´t say I was really amazed by them, but they were just good. Maybe the explosions could use a bit more work. A bigger explosion would be fun, it´s a bit small now. Anyway, it´s nice that you also payed attention to small things. You could see the ball turning around and the trampoline actually bounced. It would´ve been nice if it only bounced at one place and not at the whole trampoline though, but that´s just a little detail that doesn´t matter that much. I think you´ve done a good job when it comes to graphics. I also liked the day and night thing a lot by the way.

Music / Sounds: The music in this was pretty good, suited the game pretty well. I only didn´t really liked the third song (that came up at about level 15), but it´s nice that it at least has different songs. As for the sounds, those were pretty good. Can´t really complain about them. Perhaps the bombs could also have a bouncing sounds for when they hit the trampoline and sounds for buttons on the menuscreen would be nice, but again, those are just small things.

Interactivity: The controls were not diffecult at all. It was good that the ball did not immediatly turned to the left when he was going to the right, but first had to turn. That made the game a bit harder. I liked the scene creator you added, you could always make your own levels if you finished all 50. The menuscreen itself looked pretty good, I wouldn´t change anything there. One thing that was a bit too bad was that some levels were a lot easier then the levels before. Level 28 for example was much easier then level 26 (It was even easier then level 3) and there were also a couple of other late levels that were very easy to complete.

Overall 8 out of 10, 4 out of 5. I think this was an excellent game, it´s very addictive. It would´ve deserve an award in my opinion. I´m quite suprised that it didn´t even won a daily fifth. Anyway, I hope to see some more stuff from you soon, keep up the good work.

Woah... C.O.M.P.L.I.C.A.T.E.D.

Great game

Graphics: The graphics in this were pretty good. It all looked a bit like a gameboy advance screen, cause of the horizontal lines. I liked that somehow. The drawings were not bad, the special effects could use some improvement though. The wizards attack looked pretty bad, I hope you´re gonna make that look a bit better. Anyway, beside the special effects, I think the graphics don´t need that much improvement.

Sounds/Music: The best part of this submission in my opinion. The music in this was excellent. The songs suited the levels pretty well. The sounds in this were also great. Everything sounded very realistic. Only the menuscreen could use some music and sounds. You could add some sounds for when you mouse over a button and when you click it.

Interactivity: At first, I thought the controls would be pretty diffecult, but they were pretty easy actually. That was good, diffecult controls can really ruin games. The language selection in the beginning was pretty new to me, I gave you some bonus points for that. I was thinking that maybe it would be fun if you could also use that sword the orc carries on his back. You could make it like that you have a limited amount of ammo and you´re gonna have to use your sword when you run out. Of course you could add ammo boxes along the way so that you can refill your ammo. I was also thinking, maybe you can add a few more weapons like grenades. I think that would make this game even more fun.

Overall 8 out of 10, 4 out of 5. Well I enjoyed playing this pretty simple game. It was nice that you could play as an orc and had to defeat the good guys. That was a pretty original idea. Anyway, it has a pretty good score, so perhaps it will win a daily award tomorrow. Probably not a daily first or second, but it would at least deserve a daily fifth. Keep up the excellent work.

glad you liked the music! be sure to check out other stuff available in the audio portal Jacob has made and feel free to write reviews for it as well!

Nice game

Lol, I totally did not expect something like this. I expected a fighting game or something like that, but not a find the difference game. Anyway, it was a pretty nice game in my opinion. Not really the best I've seen, but still nice to play. It could use a couple of improvements still.

First of all, a few checkpoints in the game would be nice, it's pretty annoying that you have to start all over again when you don't make it. I would prefer a checkpoint for every level. Second, maybe you should add a few sounds for when you get the difference. It isn't really necessary, but it's just nice if it has it. Third, you should add something so that you lose time if you click wrong. The game was pretty easy, cause you could just keep on clicking, that also seemed to slow time a bit.

Overall 7 out of 10, 3 out of 5. There were also a few good things in this of course. I personally liked the conversations between the levels, especially how they were drawn. That looked pretty good. I also liked the pictures, so I gave you a pretty high score for the graphics. The music in this was also good, but like I said above, too bad it doesn't have any sounds. Anyway, I didn't finish this game cause I was too late a lot of times, then I had to start over again and could only remember 3 or 4 differences of most of the pictures, and I was too late once again.

Ow and by the way, there was a sixth difference at picture number eight or nine. If you see the girls head on the left of the screen, you see a small dot on her for-head that the other picture doesn't have (just below the crown). I nearly lost because I kept clicking on it while nothing happened.

Insp-Chin responds:

Whoa, a very long comments with all the points listed down... Well I've read all your message carefully, sorry for some of my mistakes to make you lost on the game, I've checked on that small dots and it looked I've kindly missed it a little, the circle should be a bit bigger or a little middle to that dots...

Well, thanks for your long comments and idea, it's good that you like my work, Auz, that's just a beginning since this is the first flash game, the first actionscript that I've applied into the game, so it might get a little messy or lack of error checking... And sorry cause I missed to check clearly on some parts as you said put a checkpoint on every stage... At the moment, I cannot do any changes, because of the very beginner I am now of knowing no much of the flash action script, but it's cool that my work has been appreciated by a great people like you cause you played carefully in the game and feel kindly awesome to have a visitor like you, Auz...

For the sound clips on every mistakes, yes, I admit that I missed it, else the game will be much more fun to be and it's cool that you said that you loved the voice actors so as the BGM, cause as my expectation it's super hard to stand in a good position here with this flash, cause it's japanese somehow...

By the way, thank you Auz!! :) Have a nice day...

Kinda boring

Graphics: The cannon itself didn't looked that bad, but the rest didn't had any details at all. The background could use some mountains, clouds, the sun and trees. The ground could use some plants and rocks, and the lifeforms looked a bit simple. The cannonball also didn't looked good (cannonballs are usually black, not red), so put a bit more work in the details, graphics are very important you know.

Sounds/Music: There weren't that many sounds in this. I suggest you also add some sounds for when you move the cannon and when a cannonball hits the grounds. The game also needs some backgroundmusic. Games are a bit boring without it, so please add some.

Violence: Well it doesn't need any blood, but some explosions would be nice. The lifeform just dissapears when you kill it, that looks a bit bad. Also add some explosions when the cannonball hits the ground

Interactivity: The controls weren't that hard, but still I didn't really liked them. A couple of times, I was still holding the space bar and the cannon was already shooting, that was kinda annoying. I also think it's pretty annoying when the power bar goes to two sides (know what I mean?). Please change that. As for the rest: the menuscreen wasn't that great, but at least it has one. Nice that you can submit you're score somewhere but I didn't really felt like doing that. And please add a retry button, I had to press right click and play all the time.

Overall 4 out of 10, 2 out of 5. The game wasn't really that great in my opinion. It's fun for a short while, but it start to get boring pretty soon. To make it less boring, I suggest you add music (as I mentioned above), powerups and make the enemies move a bit more diffecult, not just from the right to the left but also up and down. Ow and by the way, there's a pretty easy way to get unlimited amount of points at the first level. When you start, get some points and then just press right click, then press play. It says game over, then press right click and play again and you'll start over again with the score you had. Anyway, please try and improve this game a bit more.

triumpth responds:

Thanks, a good review! I will improve on your points.

Male, 0.200 seconds to react

It's a nice idea, but I think the game is a bit too simple. This is really too bad since I can see that you put a lot of work in the graphics. You said that this was 'in the name of science', but I don't really believe that. I also don't know why I have to give my name, are you going to make a high score list or something? It's a bit pointless to me. Anyway back to the game.

Like I said, the game was a bit simple. You put a lot of work in the graphics while it's just shooting that guy and you're done. I think it would be cool if you added more enemies that just come out of all kinds of places, from behind the cactus and such. You have to shoot those guys and it will say your reaction time somewhere in the top corner or bottom corner of the screen. Then you have to shoot a few more guys and at the end, it'll show your best time. The game is a lot more fun that way. I would also change the music if I were you. The current music is alright for the game as it is now, but if you use my idea, it wouldn't really fit, so choose something different then. Some more guns would also be cool, you shouldn't add machine-guns of course, but handguns are alright. My last idea: add something so that we can also shoot other things, like a hole in the cactus and stuff like that.

Overall 6 out of 10. I'm not sure if I voted 2 or 3, but I saved your little game. As I already said in the title, I'm Male and my fastest reaction time was 0.200 (the first time I tried it was 0.24 or something). Anyway, the game was alright, but I hope you'll expand it a bit and resubmit this someday. Keep it up and good luck with the 'science' (maybe you should post the results on the BBS).

Phantasmagor01 responds:

I'm tabulating all the information i gather, having a name column just gets me extra marks for having more detail in the experiment, 2nd i am actually taking this and turning it into a whole western shooter game, i just used this here as the basis for my experiment and i figured i didnt need to make it overly complex.
thanks for all the suggestions though, those were exactly what i had planned for the major game. Thanks for the review aswell

It was decent

I personally think the game was decent. It had some nice graphics, the menuscreen looked alright, the controls were not that hard and it was good that you added more types of enemies, levels and lifes. However there were still a few bad things about this submission

First of all, it was good that I readed the response to the last review, otherwise I would've said it needed backgroundmusic. I think it would be better if change it to that it is normally on, but you can put it off, so that people will not vote lower 'cause it has no music' while it actually has backgroundmusic. Second: It does need some sounds. Some explosions sounds and sounds for shooting would be nice. It's one of the most important parts in a submission together with graphics in my opinion, so please add that. Third: I think it needs a few explosions (not only for the sounds, but also as a special effect). Right now it didn't looked very good. You could also make the enemies explode. Fourth, you should add some more levels. I finished the game in less then a minute (and I went game over a few times). I don't consider a game that good if it is only fun for a very short time, so add some more levels and don't forget more enemies and maybe even a boss. Fifth: Even though the controls were not that diffecult, I prefer using the arrow keys and the spacebar. You don't really have to change if it is that diffecult to make, but it would deffinatly be nice.

Overall 6 out of 10. Like I said, it was a decent game, but it needs to be expanded a little with more levels and I think powerups would also be a good idea. You could add stuff like missiles and something that slows time. Anyway, the game was quite a challenging, but too bad it was a bit short. I would make a second version of this game if I were you. Just add some more stuff and I think it could get a pretty high score (well at least higher then the current one)

Chindamo responds:

Ur totally right there man. I knocked this up in a few hours, probably 3, and this was my first game, now I've made four. Anyway, I hear u loud and clear. After all, I'm quite young.

Nice game, but needs to be expanded

I'd say, it's a pretty nice game for such a low filesize. It's actually pretty addictive. I especially liked the fact that you can buy your own upgrades while still playing the game. Of course I've seen the 'buying upgrades' stuff before, but you always had to finish the level before you could finally start upgrading. Anyway, here are a few suggestions to improve your work:

One: The most important thing that you should add is music. It's nice that it has sounds, but without music, a game could get boring after a short while. I don't think it's that hard to add a song, so please do that, cause it can improve the score a lot. Two: Try to make the enemy planes look a bit better. The graphics of this game were not bad at all, only the enemies didn't looked that good in my opinion. Three: A cursor would be nice to see were you're aiming. It could make the game a bit easier. It became hard pretty quickly. Four: Just some more upgrades would be nice. A few ideas, soldiers, tanks, guard towers, homing missiles. Five: Some more types of enemies would be nice. I've only seen one type of plane so far (and I was at level 5).

Overall 6 out of 10, 3 out of 5. It was a nice game like I said, but it needs to be expanded a little. I see this was just version 1.0 so I guess we're going to see a few more version with some improvements. Anyway, keep it up and good luck with making any other versions (I'll keep an eye out for them).

ICMilk responds:

Tnx for the suggestions mate, yes this is only version 0.1 :P cheers...

Didn't liked it

Graphics: The graphics could use a lot of improvement. It needs a lot more details. Right now, it's just some grey square with some moving dots in it and a black line which is supposed to be a sword. The dots are fine if you're sure you can't draw any better, but you could at least try to make the sword look a bit more realistic and also at some tables, chairs, you know stuff like that. Also one very annoying things was that the screen was way too big. Because of this, I couldn't always directly see were the enemies came from. Please make it a bit smaller. As for the rest, the things on the right of the screen (exp etc.) could look a bit better. Just add some colors, that would make it look a bit nicer.

Sounds/Music: Well I think the music didn't really suited this movie, I also didn't liked the music. Please add a different song. Also, you should add a couple of sounds. It didn't had any right now. Just add sword sounds and screaming sounds (for when the enemies die) and some for when you destroy those boxes.

Interactivity: The controls were pretty hard. I suggest you change the turning with QW to turning with the mouse. Turning with QW goes a bit too slow sometimes, I couldn't even beat all the enemies in some rooms cause they were simply to quick (+ they attacked with 10 on the same time). It would make the game a bit easier. As for the rest, the menuscreen could look a bit better.

Overall 4 out of 10, 2 out of 5. I didn't really liked this game, sorry. The idea was pretty good, with experience points and all that, but not when you have to go in a few rooms were it's nearly impossible to defeat all the enemies. I suggest you add a health bar next time and not one-hit-KO. I hope you also added some powerups like a spells and bombs and all that, if not, then you should add it, it could make games a lot more fun. Anyway, I hope your next submissions will be better then this one.

xyxaxyz2 responds:

Graphics: Yes, you're right, I've admitted that from the first time I uploaded it.

Sounds/Music: You're right here too, that would make the game better.

Interactivity: The difficulty of this game is intentional, so mouse controls for the purpose of making the game easier is not something I would ever add to game like this. Part of the challenge is being able to coordinate movement with swinging.

There are some very difficult rooms. I consider that a good thing. :) I'm not making rooms easier.

Very nice game

Graphics: Very good graphics. Everything was pretty well-drawn, it had a decent background and the special effects were pretty good. The background could use some more details maybe. One thing that was pretty annoying was that the dragons already attacked, while they were not yet on the screen. In other words, I couldn't see them yet. I hope you'll change that somehow, cause it makes the game pretty hard.

Sounds/Music: Very good music, it suited the movie pretty well. Nice that you added different songs for the game and the menuscreen. The sounds were also very good. I don't think there's that much wrong with the sounds or the music, 9 out of 10.

Interactivity: Well the controls were very easy, just clicking with your mouse to shoot. Aiming was a bit hard though, can't you make a pointer (I can't remember how you call that, sorry, I hope you know what I mean)? Anyway, the menu-screen was very good. It has nice music as I already mentioned and it also looked excellent. I guess you putted some effort in that. The only thing that didn't looked good was the settings screen, it was just black and white, please make it look a bit better.

Overall 8 out of 10, 4 out of 5. Could win a daily award, we'll see. I think the game was a bit hard, it all went a bit too fast for me. I thought there was no way to block the fireballs, but when I checked the instruction again, I saw that there was. I hoped that I was gonna survive for a bit longer then, but it didn't seemed to matter, I still think the game is pretty diffecult. Well at least the game wasn't boring. Anyway, I saw that you made this for a flash game contest, well I hope you'll win it. If you just take some of the advices of the reviews and improve it a bit, I think it stands a pretty good chance. Good luck with the contest and keep up the excellent work.
